Weather/Environment and Road/Sidewalk/Walkway Conditions Performance Pavilion conditions

Due to sustained rainfall in recent days, patrons of lawn seating at the Performance Pavilion on Pratt for this evening's performance of Hansel & Gretel are advised to wear appropriate footwear and bring chairs rather than plan to sit on the ground. Navigating pathways to all seating at the Pavilion, particularly for those using mobility scooters, may be difficult due to ground conditions.

Institution docks have suffered some damage due to rising water levels. Docks crews and contractors are on site and working on repairs. Patrons who have boats or other watercraft at these docks are asked to look for an email with more information. Docks at Boys’ and Girls’ Club are the worst impacted because no boats or lifts are installed there. Institution staff will be attending to repairs there.

Chautauqua Facilities and Services Beach and Pool Closed today

The National Weather Service, National Lightning Safety Institute and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association are three of several groups that recommend evacuation of indoor pools when the threat of lightning exists. At the urging of the Chautauqua County Health Dept, we adhere to a policy of closing the Turner pool and C.I.’s beaches whenever we first hear thunder or see lightning. The pool/beach remain closed until we have a period of 30 minutes without hearing thunder or seeing lightning again.

At present, the Turner pool is closed. Given today’s weather forecast that includes high temperatures in the low 60’s and periodic thundershowers, Children’s Beach will remain closed today, July 2.

In consultation with our contracted trash collector Casella Waste Services, we are assured that it is not an extra burden to collect property owner trash from the off-street storage locations. It is not necessary to bring trash or recyclables to the street. Trash and recycling containers must only be visible from the street. Thanks to all who were trying to be helpful to our contracted workers. The kind intentions are appreciated. Chautauqua Facilities and Services Bus and Tram Service and Central Docks Update

Trams: Due to a temporary shortage of bus drivers, the community will be experiencing intermittent North and South Tram service on the Tram Routes. The North Bus and South Bus should not be affected by this. Please refer to the bus/tram route maps to see how this may affect your journey. We apologize for the inconvenience and will do our best to staff the trams as much as possible. Thank you.

Central Dock: Due to a shortage in the availability of pressure-treated mooring posts from our suppliers, we are have not been able to fully install all of the mooring posts along the guest dock at Central Dock. Please do not tie your boats to the metal dock stanchions there if there is no post available. We are also temporarily experiencing delays in replacing broken mooring posts on leased spaces. We are working with our suppliers/installers to improve availability, but currently do not have delivery dates. If your space is experiencing a mooring post problem please be sure to adequately tie your boat to the available posts (not the dock stanchions) and hang bumpers off of the sides that may be affected.
